Hurricane Sandy is on it's way. We live about thirty miles outside of New York City. It's Monday morning and most of New York City has closed down so my husband is home from work. The schools are all closed here so my kids are home as well. New York and New Jersey have declared a state of emergency, so we are staying put. As of this morning the winds have just started to pick up.
It's the calm before the storm. We are as prepared as we can be.
Last year New York had a huge Halloween snow storm.
That storm caused severe damage in our area and many of our friends were without power for over a week. We only lost power for five hours and I knew I never wanted that to happen again.
So last year we installed a generator.
I think we are prepared for just about anything.
I have plans for some crafting and home projects to keep us busy during the next two days.

I hope all of you effected by Hurricane Sandy keep safe during the storm.

Stay safe Judy! Will be praying for all in the path of the storm!
ReplyDeleteGirl you are smart! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe're all the way up in Canada near Michigan and we're set to get hit pretty hard too today. I'm wishing I'd had that generator installed too that I've been thinking about for the last year. Well, good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a crazy couple of days! We've prepared as much as possible, now we wait. I'm hoping to work on Christmas wreaths and stockings, but I need a glue gun and sewing machine and we do not have a generator. We rarely lose power, but this storm just might be the one to do it. Hope you and your family stay safe and well!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the area. Hope you are all safe. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteStay safe! We're in Boston and have done everything except tie the trashcans down. Once that's done we're ready!
ReplyDeleteWe're all snug and secure here too Judy! The winds picked up this morning but no rain yet. They say the worst is going to be tonight into tomorrow! My kids are home too. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteStay safe Judy!
ReplyDeleteStay safe, Judy! I'm glad to hear your whole family is home with you. By chance, my son flew to Ohio on Friday to surprise me for my birthday this weekend. He was supposed to leave this morning, but they canceled his flight yesterday. He's now rescheduled for Tuesday late afternoon to head back to the island. I am glad he's here!
ReplyDeleteI have been praying for my daughter who is in MD. and everyone on the east coast. Stay safe, and God bless.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I hope you and yours get no damage.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have a generator ready to supply power. All your neighbors may be over. Better get ready.
ReplyDeleteStay safe my friend. sounds like you are prepared. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are well prepared, and I hope all goes well for you and others.
ReplyDeleteWe lost our electricity for a full week once. It was the pits. We had to throw out so much food it was crazy.

ReplyDeleteExcitement of Christmas and New Year in Japan is very beautiful.
Seems not possibly have been appreciated by the Japanese people an overview of the festival of Halloween in the United States and Europe.
Destruction caused by this hurricane we are very worried.
I pray to God for the American people.
I'm sorry I was wrong spell.
From Japan.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Judy....stay safe and look forward to hearing from you soon!!...
