Home Goods - My Not So Secret Obsession

On average, I stop by Home Goods 2-3 times per week.  I have it down to a science now.  I can do a walk through of the store in less than 15 minutes.  I make sure that the route I take home ensures that I pass it at least that many times.  Here is my feelings on Home Goods - I don't know what I did before it.  It has so many awesome home accents for beyond reasonable prices.  It's the thrill of the hunt that makes Home Goods so exciting.

When I found this garden stool, I knew it would work perfectly in my office.  It was unique and it was beautiful.  The best part is that I wasn't looking for it.  That's the thing with Home Goods.  It's definitely tougher if you go in looking for something specific.  Not to say that it's impossible.

Bedding, blue box, lamps, books and branches with birds from Home Goods
The bedding in my guest room is a perfect case of me looking for something specific and finding it.  I knew I wanted soft blues and greens and I wanted a paisley comforter set.  I had been looking at Pottery Barn bedding and although they had so many beautiful things, I didn't want to spend hundreds between the duvet, the comforter and the shams.  So to Home Goods I went.  My local Home Goods didn't really have what I wanted.  I went in week after week and nothing.  I decided to try another Home Goods which is only about twenty minutes from my home, but just not in as convenient a location as the other.  I walked in and there is was...the perfect bedding...a bed in a bag...with all the pieces I would need - a bedskirt, a comforter, shams and decorative pillows (which I now made new covers for as shown above).  The whole set cost $39.99!!  Then I went to the duvet section and found the perfect powder blue duvet for $10 on clearance.  I was super excited.

I also needed a little table next to a chair (which I am looking to replace this chair.  I hope to find a "french" chair on Craigslist and recover it in the same fabric I have on the seat cushion).  The table was on clearance for $30.  I have seen these types of tables/garden stools sold in other store for hundreds of dollars - especially when they have as much detail as this one.

Of course I had to get some decorative boxes.  I actually do keep fabrics and other sewing notions in the boxes.

A picture in same colors and theme to finish it off.

Another side table for my living room.  BTW - no more garden stools after this one.  I think you can overdo a good thing.

The lamp shades made inexpensive bases from Linens and Things look expensive.  The quartet of pictures finish off this side of my dining room.

The latest of my Home Goods purchases - a new organizer for my mud room.  On a separate note, I am thinking that I am over the wall paper in my mud room.  If I decide to take it down, I will do a post on exactly how to remove wallpaper.  I have a great tip for that.

These are just a few of the many Home Goods purchases I have in my home.  I would love to see some of your favorites from your Home Goods shopping trips.  Please forward them and I will post them here.

  5. When I worked in a town with a Home Goods, there was a line item in my budget for shopping there. If I left without buying anything I would be shaking. Love it.
