Mia's Closet

My daughter has a best friend named Mia.  I offered to help redecorate her room.  I started the project this week by making over her closet.  Here is the before photo:

This closet was screaming for a makeover.

I started by removing the doors and the old shelf and rod.  Mia's favorite color is orange.  I plan on adding orange accents in her new room design.  I also plan on adding fabric curtains as closet doors and thought the orange color would look very cool.
I went to the container store to get the closet organizers with Mia's mom.   How cool does the platinum look against the orange walls.  I installed this in just a few hours while the kids were at camp.
What a difference in storage.
Here is the result (sorry for the blurry photo).  I took this one without the flash because it is a truer representation of the color.
Quite a dramatic before and after photo!
Her bedroom is next on the list.  Hopefully in a few weeks I will have an after photo to share.
Don't forget to stop back tonight at 8pm EST for my Sizzle into Summer party.  See you then.

Can't wait to hear what you think of Mia's closet.  I always love and appreciate your comments.

  1. The cat looks comfy...lol. Can't wait to see the reveal. It's a funny thing, but I have found that when a kid/teen has a 'cool' room, they keep it nicer. One the biggest benefits to a kid room redo. My daughter has this bright orange in her room and loves it. Good luck!

  8. Huge difference with the closet! I agree with the commenter above saying kids keep a cool room cleaner. I redid my daughters room for Christmas and it seriously is clean every day. I love it! Can't wait to see what you do with the room!

  14. You are definitely a miracle worker. It is so nice to be organized. At the age of 66, after a six month stay in India, I will move to a very small apartment and life will change radically for me. I lost my nursing position of 21 years in massive budget cuts and my income dropped $100,000 a year. I am barely surviving so I've given so much to Goodwill and I'm learning to budget like crazy. Hopefully, I can still save some of the things I love.

  16. WoW! I can't believe that's the same closet! I love bright colors and I think the pop of orange with the platinum looks very chic and grown up. My wife is a total neat freak & would have a meltdown if my side of the closet looked like the before. ;-)

    Very nicely done!

  17. Mia must be totally enamored of you!

What a gorgeous makeover. That orange is so happy, and all the organization tools you gave her are so professional looking.

You should become one of those organizer professionals and do this for a living!

A really nifty makeover! Thanks for sharing it.

    A+
