Happy Friday! Do you have an boring builder's grade mirror in your bathroom? I certainly did and I bet many of you do as well. I am so excited to share with you my experience using MirrorMate Frames.
Yes, there is a solution to your ugly mirror problems.
Yes, there is a solution to your ugly mirror problems.
When MirrorMate Frames asked me to review their product, I jumped at the chance. My master bathroom, after twelve years, was still sporting the same builder's grade mirror that came with the house. Year after year we talked about doing something with the mirror, but it was difficult to find the exact right size, not to mention that the wallpaper was put up years ago and I'm not even sure they wallpapered behind the mirror! I needed a solution that could use my existing mirror.
That's when MirrorMate Frames came to the rescue.
MirrorMate Frames allows you to transform your plain bathroom mirror in minutes with a custom frame. It's so easy. First you must pick out the frame style you love. There are so many frames to choose from.
I chose the Gramercy Martini frame. It was perfect for the old world look in my master bathroom. I followed the directions on the order sheet and measured my mirror and sent those measurements to MirrorMate. The measurement sheet is easy and takes into account the clips that hold your existing mirror. If you have the thick clear clips holding your existing mirror, like I did, MirrorMate sends you complimentary clips to replace those.
I was so excited when it arrived. It took less than a week to get to me!
The frame comes in four pieces. Two sides and a top and a bottom. The top and the bottom are labeled. Using the glue they provided, I added glue to the edge of one of the side pieces.
I then attached the side to the bottom using the clips they provide as well. The clips pushed right in, and the one or two that did not, I used a rubber mallet (as suggested) to lightly tap in the clips. I repeated the same process with the remaining three corners.
After all four sides were together, I flipped the mirror over (careful to hold it from the center of the top) and wiped off any excess glue on the corners with a damp rag.
Okay, now here's the hard part...I had to wait one hour for it to dry before I could install it! Lol
But seriously, they suggest one hour, and I let it dry for two (just to be sure).
Once the frame was dry it was time to hold the frame in position and level it.
I called my husband for this part since the frame was very large.
Once the frame was level, I used these corner pieces to set the corners on the mirror.
You place tape strips on the cardboard corners and then place it directly on your mirror.
The corners pieces are put in so that once you remove the tape on the back of the frame you can just sit your frame on top of the existing corners holders and not have to re-level. Genius!
We removed the backing from the tape on the back of the frame and got the frame into position. Once it was in position, we pressed all around it and the frame was attached to the mirror.
That's it! Done. The total time for the project, not including dry time, was under thirty minutes.
What a huge upgrade to my bathroom. I now have a gorgeous mirror!!
Look at the perfect mitered corners. I am so impressed with this product. First of all you would never know that it is attached to the top of my old mirror. We have been showing off our new mirror for a few weeks now, and everyone thinks we purchased a new mirror. This is the most awesome product.
It's easy to install, it's extremely well made, and the results are truly incredible.
What more can you ask for?
I am really in love with my new mirror.
Now the best part...drumroll please...
