No More Closet Doors

For years, I have wanted to do something about the closet doors on our his and hers walk-in closets.  The doors opens into the closets, and the closets are not huge, so once in the closet you would have to shut the door to get to the other side of the closet.  My husband's side was especially bad as he has the smaller of the two walk-in closets and the door nearly touched his clothing hanging on the far side.

This weekend I came up with the perfect solution.

We removed the doors and I added these drapes I found at Target.
All I did was use a tension rod to hang the drapes.
The drapes pick up all of the colors of my master bedroom and master bathroom.
For under $50, both of our closets look huge now.
It also feels like a dressing room, especially with my chandelier between the closets...I kinda like that.
This is only step one in a plan...you know there's always a plan.
My husband wants his closet re-organized.  I will be checking out Ikea this week
to look at their closet organizers.  I was reluctant before now install new closet organizers when only half of the closet was visible.  Now that I have an entire closet to work with, I know I can create something fabulous for him.  My closet will get some tweaks as well (of course).

Can't wait to hear what you think of my new "closet doors".

  4. That looks great, Judy! I love the look of the fabric and your chandelier. Our door opens in, too {I wish it were a pocket door} so to get to the clothes behind you have to close the door. We need way better organization, although there is a closet system in ours. I can't wait to see what you do and hopefully get some ideas for mine!

  6. I have the same plan scheduled for my closet door! We already took the door off, now i just need to get a curtain rod hung up! Our door though was in the way of our vanity in the bathroom. It doesnt make much sense at all to me! I love the way yours turned out!

  12. I like the idea so much that I'm gonna copy it.
I have a closet that had the door missing when we first moved in. The room is so small that I didn't want to put on a door - probably the reason the previous owners took it off.
However, I don't like it without something but was concerned it wouldn't look good with a curtain...I like yours! I'm going to hang a curtain on that closet!
    Thanks for sharing!
