Creative Ways to Gussy Up the Outside of Your Home

I'd like to welcome Jack Mauro who has written a post especially for DIYbyDesign.  Enjoy!

The exterior of your house is the face that you put out to the world. I am a firm believer that the outside of our houses should always look well-cared for and updated. If your home looks shabby and unkempt, it gives the image that your family is also sloppy. If you feel your home is not looking its best, there are many different things that you can do to gussy up your home. No matter how big or small your budget is or how much time you have, these projects will add a modern touch to your home.

Weekend Project: New Paint

Nothing looks more unappealing than a home with peeling paint that looks old and outdated. You can easily update the look of your home with the help of paint. Choose a high quality exterior paint in one of the season’s hottest neutral tones. I personally prefer to use paints that include the primer to eliminate a few extra steps. The easiest way to paint your exterior is by using a paint sprayer. This tool will help you get the job done so much faster with professional quality results.

Weekend Project: New Garage Door

Another aspect that easily takes away from the look of a home is an outdated garage door or lack of one at all. Most of us use are garages as a storage area and a place to park our cars so it is crucial to have a door that covers all of this. Installing a new and modern garage door that goes with the style of your home can really change the exterior look. A Garaga garage door for instance, comes in a very wide variety of styles, materials, and prices and will go with any style of home from classic to contemporary. New garage doors can really add some class and sophistication to the outside of your place.

One Day Project: Do Some Gardening

If your front lawn looks like its dying and your plants are a total mess, the outside of your home will look very uninviting. Water your front lawn regularly or install a sprinkler system if you seem to struggle with getting your grass green. Work on pruning your plants so that they look neat and lively.

When it comes to home décor, the details are what can sometimes ruin the total look of a home. If you are not loving the look of your home, set aside some time and money to give your exterior a little makeover with some of these projects.

Thanks Jack!

Don't forget to stop back tonight for my Fall into Fall party.

The link opens at 8pm EST.
Hope to see you then.
