DIY Twine Tassel

Tassels make great little accessories to a lamp, curtains or even a gift.  They are super easy to make too.
I found this pretty teal twine a few weeks ago at Michaels craft store.
I used the bottom of a box, but any cardboard will do.  Mine was 8 1/2" long.  The longer the cardboard, the bigger the tassel.
I wrapped the twine lengthwise around the cardboard 30 times.  For an even fuller tassel, you can increase the amount of times you wrap the twine around the cardboard.
Then taking a smaller piece of twine I tied off one end with a double knot.  I then pulled the twine off of the cardboard and cut the side opposite of where I just tied it together.  I then flipped it over on itself so that the knot was on the inside.
Then I crumbled up a piece of aluminum foil into a ball and found a piece of grosgrain ribbon to use.
Using the aluminum foil ball, I tied the twine around the ball.

Then I used the rest of the grosgrain ribbon and looped it through the top so that the tassel could hang.
In order to get a great texture, I unravelled each of the strands of twine.
Instant tassel!
From start to finish this whole project took less than fifteen minutes.
I love the texture and the color variation too.
Can't wait to hear what you think of my DIY twine tassel.
