JoAnn and Waverly are hosting a Waverize it! contest. Waverly is celebrating it's 90th anniversary and is hosting this awesome contest. The contest is open to everyone. You can enter the Facebook contest with a creation of your own using Waverly fabric. The grand price is $1,000 in Waverly fabric and a $250 JoAnn gift card.
JoAnn Fabric Store sent me two beautiful yards of fabric and my challenge was to Waverize it and transform it into something useful. I came up with two different uses for the fabric.
First I went with a home decor use.
Since I am updating the bonus room off my son's room, this new fabric would be perfect to create a new cornice board. The original cornice board I made using styrofoam so it weighs almost nothing and is easy to change up.
I took off the old fabric and wrapped the cornice board using the new Waverly fabric.
Using straight pins I attached the fabric. It's really a super easy project. I then ironed the fabric right on the cornice board to get out any wrinkles.
The colors are perfect for the room.
Plus the new fabric adds much more life to the room.
I still had left over fabric, so I didn't stop there. I decided to create a lap desk for our iPad.
I started by cutting fabric a half inch larger all around than the pillow I was covering.
Using coordinating ribbon I laid the iPad on the fabric...
and cut four pieces of ribbon equal sizes for the four corners.
This is what will hold the iPad in place. I sewed the ribbon onto the corners leaving space for each corner of the iPad.
I made a simple envelope pillow to enclose the pillow form.
Voila! A simple lap desk for the iPad.
I hope I have inspired you to come up with your own creation and join in the Waverize it! contest.
Can't wait to hear what you think.
