On Saturday our new kitchen table arrived from Ethan Allen. When we renovated the kitchen, almost five years ago, we wanted to buy this table from Ethan Allen. At the time, after all the issues we had with the renovation, we decided to just hold off on buying a new table. Over the years I have looked around, but this table was still the one that spoke to me.
So a few weeks ago we finally just took the plunge and bought it.
I just love it!
Here is our old table, which had a light wood top.
The new table is much larger (56" round plus a 20" leaf). For now we are keeping the chairs. I have my eye out for new chairs, but I haven't found exactly what I want just yet.
I don't love the dark rug under a dark table. I spotted this rug on Joss and Main. I looks like it is the perfect colors. They also have the perfect size...an 8' round. What do you think? Is it too funky? Here's what Joss and Main has to say about the rug...
"Whether you have a passion for the French countryside or an enthusiasm for historic farmhouses, the beautiful Paisley Rug is exactly what you need to complete your interior design. Bountiful charm, remarkable details, and a myriad of colors and patterns, this rug is fresh and full of character. The hand-tufted New Zealand wool blend is constructed of a full loop pile that has a distinctive, hand-hooked appearance, completely in keeping with the informal beauty of classic country décor."
They make it sound perfect for my country french kitchen.
Now I just need some beautiful placemats.
If I can't find some that I love, I will just make them.
Can't wait to hear what you think of my new table.

Hi Judy! Oh, I love your beautiful table! Love the color and call me when you get rid of that rug! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
We bought an Ethan Allen table, chairs and hutch 35 years ago. We were going to sell the set when we moved two years ago, but found that it worked great in our new eat in kitchen. The dining table has served us well.
Love your new table. It is stunning. I love the dark wood, so pretty. Looks wonderful in your room. Hugs, Marty
Oh it's just beautiful Judy!~Great choice in your gorgeous kitchen.
I think your new table is beautiful! I like the new rug too. How is Joss & Main about returns just in case you hate it?
Nice table, Judy! It looks like it goes so well with your existing chairs, too. The rug colors are pretty. Can you return to Joss & Main, in case you don't like the way it looks? I have to go area rug shopping, too, for the living room. I've been wanting to get to Home Goods, so I will check there first. I used to find some good ones there when I was shopping for clients and model homes.
I love the table, You made a great choice.
Judy- I love your new table. I think it is wonderful that even after waiting all that time you KNEW that was the table for you- that is what I think is the true test of time. Love it!!! I think the chairs look great with it~ xo Diana

We have a very similar table- the base is almost identical. Ours came with a glass top (yuk!) and we built a wood top for it. I actually like those chairs with it, wish I had something like them for our table.
Judy, I just love your new table! Perfect choice for your kitchen! Ethan Allen is one of my husband's favorite stores! They have such great pieces of furniture!
I've always loved Ethan Allen products and I've thought about getting this very table but ended up with another of their farm house tables. Love the rug idea. I think the round rug would be great.
I love the new table and I think the rug you are thinking about would be perfect!!! The colors of the rug are so pretty - the design in awesome too!
Thanks for hosting ....I love your table! I'm new to twitter also ... I'm following you there now too.
Have a great week end, Francine

Terrific table.
I need a new one myself...
=)
Did you make your own placemats for your new table? I hope you did! It’s such a fun activity. You get to choose your own design pattern and color. I started with beginner projects that are cheap and easy to make.
