Embellished Drapes and Lamp Update

What do you get when you combine a classic window panel with grosgrain ribbon?  A custom-looking window treatment.  It's so easy to get a custom look in window panels without spending alot of money.  Last year we reclaimed a portion of the playroom in our basement to have more of a family area.   I wanted to soften the look of a window we have downstairs.  I bought plain ivory sailcloth drapes from Target.  $17.99 for the pair!!

You can combine a classic window panel with your favorite grosgrain ribbon.  I used a wide chocolate ribbon with blue stitching on each side.

Using my favorite no-sew product, fabric-tac, I adhered the ribbon to the window panels.   I wanted the ribbon on the leading edges as well as a border right below the rod pocket.

I hung my panels using clips and rings.  Entire project cost under $30 for two panels.

I also needed a lamp.  I shopped my home and found a lamp in the attic that used to be in my son's room when he was a baby.
See the white table lamp
I painted it using a bronze paint.  I used a sponge brush.  This product is amazing.  It only took one coat.

That combined with a new shade from Target, gave this lamp a whole new lease on life.

Now it's just perfect for the space.

Two chairs also from Target.  Pillows are from Pottery Barn.

Two simple projects costing less that $50 in total, that updated an entire window seating area.  What do you think?  I love and appreciate all of your comments.

love the curtains! I just got a quote for custom blinds and it cost a fortune. Yours look wonderful for the fraction of the price.

The ribbon on the curtains really makes for a designer look, yet so easy. Well done! It's hard to imagine the table/lamp combo is the same piece. You made a wonderful transformation of both these pieces, and then took the time to share them on the Boardwalk Bragfest. Many thanks! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

That ribbon really creates an amazing transformation. I like re-purposed and re-used and re-imagined items!

Especially when things are quick like this!

Thanks for sharing some fun make-over ideas on this little stop for Alphabe-Thursday.

I enjoyed seeing what you've done.
