New Ethan Allen Coffee Table for Living Room

While the hunt still continues for the perfect area rug (I have been to seven different Home Goods in the past two days), I have continued to try to finish off the decorating in the living room.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, our local Ethan Allen is going out of business.  Each week they continue to lower their prices.  I have had my eye on the Ethan Allen Heron Round coffee table for a while but was waiting for the price to dip to under 50% off.
Well a couple of days ago that's exactly what happened.  Of course this table only makes me want to change out the rug that much faster.  I just love the warmth of the finish on the table and it's lines...elegant but not overdone.

It's so funny...years ago we had a glass and brass coffee table (which we searched the house ten times over trying to find).  We have no recollection of what happened to that coffee table.  When my son  was two years old split his forehead open on another coffee table in our family room and after that I removed any furniture I deemed potentially dangerous to him, including the glass and brass coffee table.
He is now 16 and my daughter is 13 so I think it's safe to bring back some "dangerous" furniture.

I just love my new table and love even more that it was a real bargain.
Can't wait to hear what you think.

Master Bedroom Retreat - A New Addition

A few years ago we were on vacation and we were staying in a beautiful hotel.  The linens were high end and the bedding luxurious and elegant.  That was when I decided to take our master bedroom to another level.  I asked myself why shouldn't we enjoy that type of luxury on a nightly basis.

Welcome!  Piece by piece I put it together.  Now all of the essentials are in our master bedroom retreat...

...luxurious bedding, a bench at the end of the bed, a comfy chair to read or watch television.

But there has been something missing.  Something that most luxury hotel rooms have...
A writing desk.  I have wanted a writing desk in our master bedroom for a long while.  I have pictured myself writing correspondence or blogging late at night at a beautiful desk.

I picked this up last week at the liquidation sale our local Ethan Allen was having.  I had told the salesgirl weeks ago that I was interested in this desk and as soon as they opened the sale to the public to please let me know.  She called me as soon as she got the news that the sale to the public would begin and I purchased it over the phone and was there to bring it home within an hour.

I love the legs on this desk.  I have wanted this desk for sometime now.  For a while we had two chairs in our room so there just wasn't any space for a desk.  At one point I even considered buying the desk for my daughter's room just to have it in the house, but it didn't have enough storage for a student's desk, so I couldn't justify the purchase.  About a month ago I moved one of the chairs from our bedroom to my son's teen lounge off his bedroom where it is getting plenty of use.  Timing is everything and this desk becoming available at a discount when the space opened up in our room made this all possible.  I had the chair already but was using it in my guest room at my sewing machine.  It's makeover was one of the first I blogged about several years ago.
The desk also compliments the piece I have right outside of our bedroom, which is from Ethan Allen as well.

I can't wait to hear what you think of my new desk.

New Ethan Allen Accessories and More

As I mentioned last week, our local Ethan Allen is going out of business.  It's one of my favorite stores and it's really quite sad that after all these years it won't be in town anymore.  They are liquidating and accessories were all 40% off and furniture 25-35% off.
I showed off my new lamp with the crystals last week.

I also bought these two stone topiaries.

Over the years as I would walk through Ethan Allen I would always admire these.  Now that they were 40% off I grabbed them.  They go perfectly with my living room decor.
Then this super cute pillow caught my eye.  I knew it could go many places in my home, but for now it will adorn the chair in my entryway.

As I walked through the store, I could have bought almost everything, but I showed some restraint and limited myself to things that I have wanted for a while.  You know...things I have wanted, but didn't necessarily need, therefore I never wanted to pay full price for them.  Next up I bought this gorgeous ottoman.  I knew this would look absolutely beautiful in my master bathroom.
It's upholstered in a neutral fabric and is petite in size, so it could really go just about anywhere in my home.
I bought one other large item, but you will have to stop back on Monday to check it out.  I want to spend the weekend styling it a bit before I present it.  Here's a hint - it's going in my master bedroom and I have admired it for a while now.  Have a super weekend!

Life Just Got Brighter - A New Lamp and a New Bulb

For those of you who keep up with my blog, you know that I am a huge fan of Ethan Allen.  I absolutely love their furniture and pop into our local store now and then.  I stopped by Ethan Allen the other day only to hear the bad news that our local store is going out of business.  They have been in the same location for as long as I can remember.  So sad.  The positive thing is that they are starting to liquidate.  They started with the accessories and lighting, all at least 40% off.
I bought the Crystal Jewel table lamp which I have been eyeing for years...I just never wanted to spend that much on a lamp.  I love the scroll design and the romantic elegance of this lamp.
Of course the crystals are always a huge plus for me.  I love a little bling.
Since it was the floor model, it already had an ordinary 75W bulb in it.
GE recently sent me their Reveal Bulbs to try out.  My new lamp gave me the perfect opportunity to try out these new bulbs.
I have never tried GE Reveal bulbs before.  Wow, what a huge difference!!  I was amazed at how it replaced that yellow, dingy lighting with a crisp, white light that really makes everything pop in my living room.  It's also much more energy efficient than regular bulbs.
GE Reveal bulbs are available almost exclusively at Target.  Be sure to stop by and try some.

DISCLOSURE:  GE provided me with one package of four light bulbs, however the opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Ralph Lauren Home Lamp Find

For Valentine's Day my husband surprised me with an Ethan Allen end table.  It's a beautiful table and deserves a beautiful lamp.  So, since then, I have been keeping my eyes open for something special.
On Sunday I did a quick walk-through of my favorite store, Home Goods.  It was a zoo on Sunday and I was sure I wouldn't find anything which would happily allow me to avoid the long lines.  I headed to the back of the store, and at the end of the lamp aisle, on the bottom shelf, I spotted this lamp.
Immediately the gorgeous color and finish caught my eye.  The next thing that caught my eye was that it was from Ralph Lauren Home.  I picked it up and it was heavy and in pristine condition.  It also had a gorgeous pleated silk shade.   I could see and feel just how much of a quality lamp this was.   Home Goods was selling the lamp for $119, which is expensive, however the tag said that it retailed for over $300 at Ralph Lauren Home! Okay...this lamp had to come home with me.
When I got home I did a little research on the lamp.  It's called the Alston table lamp by Ralph Lauren and sure enough it did retail for over $300 when it was being sold by Ralph Lauren ($330 to be exact).
It is the perfect size lamp for this table.
It also balances off this side of the room.
I am so in love with my new lamp.
Yes...I must cut off the tags now!  Lol

Don't forget to stop back tonight for my Winter Blues Wednesday party.

The party opens at 8pm EST.  Hope to see you then.

A Valentine's Day Surprise

Happy Valentine's Day!
It's a beautiful brisk day here in New York.  Overnight we got some more snow.
I think it looks so beautiful clinging to the trees.

Yesterday was a busy day in our house.  The painters started repairing the sheetrock in the basement and putting the walls back together.  I had workers coming and going all day long.  My husband mentioned that he was expecting a package that would need a signature.  I was home all day anyhow so I told him I would be there to sign for it.  The doorbell rang around noon and I opened the door to a man wearing a black shirt with an emblem on it that I recognized, although I couldn't figure out why I recognized it.  He said, "hi, I'm from Ethan Allen and I have a delivery of a library table for you today."  I was visibly shocked.  It was the Ethan Allen emblem I recognized.  He said, "you don't seem to be expecting us."  In a few seconds I started to process exactly what was happening.  I have wanted the library table from Ethan Allen for years, but never wanted to spend the money on it.

This was the best Valentine's Day gift...ever!!
Quickly I tried to explain that this must be a surprise from my husband and that I have wanted this table forever and I was so excited that they were here.  I probably sounded a little wacky to the delivery guys, but I was just so darn happy.  The delivery guy asked if I knew where I wanted it.
Of course I knew exactly where I wanted it...I have dreamed of it for so long.
I had them set it up in my family room.

I styled it quickly, but plan on putting something better together.

I have always loved the detail on this piece.
This was the best surprise and the most perfect Valentine's Day gift.
Some girls want flowers and candy... some jewelry.
Me...a gorgeous piece of furniture from Ethan Allen...I'm one happy girl!

This is 26th Valentine's Day that I have been lucky enough to share with the man who is my husband.  Thank you honey for always bringing so much joy to my life.
