We did a full kitchen remodel five years ago (you can check out the before and after photos here). At the time we knew that we wanted to buy a larger kitchen table, but after the stress and problems of that renovation, we just never followed through on buying it.
The table we own is beautiful, just a bit too small for the space. At the time of the kitchen renovation, we had picked out a table from Ethan Allen. It was from their Maison collection.

Well, five years later, that is still the table we want. We have looked around and have yet to find a table that we like more. It's similar to the table we have, except that it is 56" round with a 20" leaf to extend it to 76" (our table is a 40" round with two leaves in it to make it 54" x 40").
I love the cherry top and it will go so well with our island.
For now we haven't purchased any new chairs. I want to see how our existing chairs look.
Plus, for sure, I can find chairs I love that aren't Ethan Allen prices.
I love Ethan Allen...but they're expensive.
The table is supposed to arrive next week. With the new table being a darker table, I think it's time to lighten up the space with a lighter area rug. This rug, and the two runners in the kitchen, were bought five years ago and it's probably time for an update.
The color of these rugs was called mocha but when the rugs arrived, they seemed much more like a burgundy to me. It worked, because it picked up on the color of the walls in the dining room, but I have always felt the rugs were a bit darker than I would have liked. Great for hiding spills, though.
This rug is big too...it's 7'6" x 9'6". I do like the cut outs along the edge.
I won't make any final decisions until the new table arrives.
But if I do change the rug, I would like to pull colors from the window treatments. I think that would look beautiful under the dark wood table.

Maybe something like this.
Don't forget to stop back tonight for my Swing into Spring party.
The party opens at 8pm EST. Hope to see you then.
