Shabby Art Boutique took drop cloths to the next level creating these gorgeous bed linens.  

Can you believe this duvet cover is made from a drop cloth??  Amazing job.

Hymns & Verses  shared her updated bathroom.  Her inspiration for the room color came from the fabric she used to make the shower curtain.  Yep, she made the shower curtain and the ruffles are made with raw silk.  So casually elegant.  

FURNITURE TRANSFORMATIONS:

Juniper & Roses  saved this piece from the dumpster and transformed it into this beauty.  I hope you will stop by to check out the before and after photos.  Simply amazing.

Melody from My Passion for Decor transformed this cabinet using AS Chalk Paint.  I absolutely love it.  

Melody...you had me at Lululemon.  

We share not only in our love of chalk paint but our love of Lululemon.  

Anyone else out there as obsessed with that store as we are?

CRAFTY CREATIONS:

Southernflaircraft's Blog  upcycled a kleenex box to create this towel holder.  I just love the jute.

Homemaker in Heels shares an awesome tutorial on how to transform a lamp to look like mercury glass.  She also shows how to cover a lampshade with fabric.  Gorgeous!!

Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom shared her recipe for ham and cheese mini quiches.  

I just love quiche!

Le Chateau des fleurs  shares her recipe for a circus tent cake.  How super cute!

Calling All Blogging Friends

We will be leaving for vacation in a week.  

We are going to Disney World for four days...

 and then on the new Disney Fantasy ship.  

We are very excited.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Mine was the best!  Yesterday was Father's Day and my birthday.  My husband gave me such a wonderful birthday gift.  It is something I have been wanting for a while now.  In fact, if you've kept up with my blog you've read about me wanting this on several occasions.  In fact, I almost bought it on Craigslist a few months back...however it was from 

someone across the country and that just seemed to risky.  

Well, without further ado, I am so pleased to introduce you to the mirror of my dreams:

Yep...it's the Ethan Allen venetian style mirror I have been lusting over for months.

We hung it at the end of the hallway above the Ethan Allen dresser I scored at their warehouse sale this year.  If you remember, I found that lamp at a Home Goods in Binghamton, NY while I was there with my daughter for a tennis tournament.  It goes perfectly with the new mirror.

 It adds a ton of dimension to my hallway, not to mention so much glamour.
It completely transforms the entire area.

 Look at all of that gorgeous detail. 

I tried for months to find something that I liked as much, or at least that I could live with.  Sometimes it's better to just wait and get what you really love.  It was the best birthday present...ever!!

Designing a Themed Child's Room

Today I'd like to share with you this insightful article written especially

Whether you are designing a room for an infant or a young child, you’ll find that things go much more quickly if you stick with a theme. A theme may be something that is as general as a certain color, or you might find that your child is entirely in love with the look of a certain book or movie. 

If you want to create a themed bedroom for your child, you’ll find that it is far easier than you might think. Take a few moments to check out these hints for creating a fun and creative

theme for your child’s room. This task is one that can give your child years of delight! 

Use Stencils 

Many parents find that they would love to add some designs to their child’s themed room, but they might not be sure how to do so. If you are looking to decorate the borders of your child’s room, you’ll find that you can easily do it with a small amount of paint and some stencils. This is a great choice if you want to add a vibrant pop of color to your child’s room. For a natural look, use green paint and leaf stencils. For a fairytale look, choose paints of all varieties and star and comet stencils. 

Consider a Mural 

If your child loves a certain scene from a movie, they might love the chance to have a mural of it on their wall. Though you can hire a professional mural painter, you’ll find that this is fairly expensive. Instead, borrow or rent a projector, which allows you to throw a printed image onto a wall. Trace the image onto the wall using a pencil and then paint it. This is a very easy task, though it can be time consuming, depending on your comfort with the tools. 

Matched Furniture 

Use resources like theroomplace.com to purchase matched furniture for your child’s room. If your child

loves fantasy and fairy tales, choose a bed and mirror combination that has delightfully fanciful scrolling. If your child wants a theme that is more rough and ready, choose furniture that is made of finished plain wood. Good children’s furniture will last for years, and you will be surprised how easily it can be dressed up or down depending on the theme. If you choose the right furniture, you will find that it will convert very easily to standard bedroom furniture in the years to come. 

Paint the Walls 

If you want something a little plainer than murals or stencils, consider simply painting the walls. For example, if you have a child that loves pretending to be a princess, consider painting the walls a soft pink. For a child who adores boats, ships and pirates, think about choosing a soft shade 
of blue for the walls. 

Printed Curtains 

Go to the fabric store and look for fabrics that matches the theme of the room. It is very easy to sew curtains; they are only hemmed rectangles of fabric that have a fold in the top for a curtain rod. This is a fantastic way to make your child’s themed room a little more complete. 

Designing a themed bedroom for your kid is definitely a project that you can take on yourself. But you need to come at it with creativity, discipline, and the right tools and resources.
