For years, I have wanted to do something about the closet doors on our his and hers walk-in closets. The doors opens into the closets, and the closets are not huge, so once in the closet you would have to shut the door to get to the other side of the closet. My husband's side was especially bad as he has the smaller of the two walk-in closets and the door nearly touched his clothing hanging on the far side.
This weekend I came up with the perfect solution.
We removed the doors and I added these drapes I found at Target.
All I did was use a tension rod to hang the drapes.
The drapes pick up all of the colors of my master bedroom and master bathroom.
For under $50, both of our closets look huge now.
It also feels like a dressing room, especially with my chandelier between the closets...I kinda like that.

This is only step one in a plan...you know there's always a plan.
My husband wants his closet re-organized. I will be checking out Ikea this week
to look at their closet organizers. I was reluctant before now install new closet organizers when only half of the closet was visible. Now that I have an entire closet to work with, I know I can create something fabulous for him. My closet will get some tweaks as well (of course).
Can't wait to hear what you think of my new "closet doors".

OMGosh a girl after my own heart...I as well hate door, most of them are just in the way, I am a HUGE fan of pocket door and just installed one in my master bath toiletten room...but I too have 2 door for the hubs and I closets and this is just such a beautiful idea, thanks for the inspiration I had never thought of fabric!
looks great Judy...I love the curtains you chose!..Mariaelena
That looks great, Judy! I love the look of the fabric and your chandelier. Our door opens in, too {I wish it were a pocket door} so to get to the clothes behind you have to close the door. We need way better organization, although there is a closet system in ours. I can't wait to see what you do and hopefully get some ideas for mine!
Love this solution! The drapes look fantastic - and really give the space that dressing room feel. Can't wait to see the closet reorganization.
I have the same plan scheduled for my closet door! We already took the door off, now i just need to get a curtain rod hung up! Our door though was in the way of our vanity in the bathroom. It doesnt make much sense at all to me! I love the way yours turned out!
Love the chandy and the curtains look amazing. Hugs, Marty
Love that Judy! They look fantastic and I also love your chandy in the hallway. Beautiful! :-)

Great idea, and I love the way you've picked up the colors in your room!
=)
The curtains are a great solution! What a pretty master suite you have, Judy.
I like the simple change! Very elegant!

I like the idea so much that I'm gonna copy it.
I have a closet that had the door missing when we first moved in. The room is so small that I didn't want to put on a door - probably the reason the previous owners took it off.
However, I don't like it without something but was concerned it wouldn't look good with a curtain...I like yours! I'm going to hang a curtain on that closet!
Thanks for sharing!
I can't wait too see the rest. This is exactly what I'm hoping to do. I want to at least pretend that I have a grand dressing room. OR be able to easily find all of my clothes. Either, Or :0)
What a beautiful idea! It looks wonderful and the chandelier looks gorgeous! Great inspiration!
Looks great Judy, I love the curtains! I'll be back to follow you on Linky as soon as I get mine up and running.
Such a smart decision!! Its another great way to add color into a room!! This could be a great way to help decorate an apartment that you cant change to much but always want to add some color!

Judy, what a great solution!! Can't wait to see the closet makeover. You're so creative!!!
I don't have doors on any of our closets. It's so nice to be able to see everything at once!
Look beautiful. I especially love that chandelier!

That's a clever idea. The curtains solve the problem and look pretty too...it's a win-win situation!
Awesome transformation! I have this same problem and took the doors off as well... only problem is I haven't replaced it with anything yet. Love the fabric you chose!
that is a neat idea Judy! Looks like an upscale boutique!
What a wonderful idea! Love the colors you chose!
I love the curtains. It's such a great idea to take off the doors. I have so many doors opening into the master bath. We took one off and will never put it back!
