Tooth Fairy Pillow

Here's an easy craft to do with things you probably all ready have lying around.

Every kid needs a tooth fairy pillow.  This one started with a shirt from Gymboree which my daughter had outgrown.  The Gymboree shirts are perfect because they usually have some sort of picture on them that you can use for the basis of the design (in this case the cow girl).

I keep these shirts and others with my fabric.  They made great fabric for pillows and other crafts.  So I started by deciding how big I wanted the tooth fairy pillow.  I wanted it to hang off the finial on her bed so that the tooth fairy could find it easily.  I started by using embroidery thread and embroidering the words tooth fairy under the cow girl.  I just did it free hand.  It doesn't have to be perfect.  It's non-perfection is what makes it perfect.  I then took a scrap piece of white felt and cut it in the shape of a "U".   I embroidered it to the shirt using a diagonal running stitch.   All I did then was turn the shirt inside out and sew three sides of a square starting at one side of the neck and ending on the other.  I cut the shirt outside of the stitching away and turned the shirt back to the right side.  I was able to stuff it from the neck hole.  I then just sewed some left over ribbon to each side of the neck and sewed the neck back up.  Really simple.  You could even sew the pillow by hand if you don't have a sewing machine.

Fun, simple project great for your kids or grandkids.  Let me know what you think.  I love comments.

Yes! A friend made a tooth fairy pillow for Max a good year or so ago and to his irritation he STILL hasn't lost a tooth! The pillow is ready and waiting...

Judy that is so darn cute!~ My younger boy who is now 9, and knows there is no tooth fairy, told me the other day I was NOT a good one ha ha ha!~ I could not argue that, I can't tell you how many times I realized in the morning I forgot, then slipped the dollar under his pillow when I was waking him up in the morning, he never lead on though at the time.
